Big Changes Ahead for IPPE 2019
In the world of poultry and meat industries, few events are as iconic and well attended as the IPPE. The 2019 International Production Processing Expo expects more than 1,200 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from over 120 countries at this year’s show, including a large international contingency of attendees from Central America and Asia. IPPE has evolved dramatically over the years from a poultry-exclusive industry show to a week-long education and resource-driven event for everyone from feed to fork in the meat, egg and poultry market. Attendees represent companies and growers from all over the world, including operation and plant managers, purchasing agents, engineers, and researchers from the top feed, meat processing and packing and poultry companies. The event is sponsored by the American Feed Industry Association, North American Meat Institute and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association and offers a huge variety of education and interactive exhibits. IPPE is the only trade show that gives back 100 percent of its revenues to the industry. Sponsoring organizations use revenue to provide research, education, crisis management assistance, public relations and regulatory assistance.
Sustainability is a keystone around which most of the IPPE educational offerings highlight and support a commitment by companies to attain environmental goals like reduction of water usage and the responsible distribution of nutrients. Many eminent companies have committed to achieve their sustainability goals by 2020-2025. The Feed Strategy Conference and the Latin American Poultry Summit at IPPE promotes educational resources for growers, family farms and companies alike on a global scale while providing tools to maintain productivity and profitability.
The Family Farm Environmental Excellence award – an environment excellence program – recognizes outstanding environmental stewardship by family farmers in poultry and egg production. Awards are presented once a year to family-owned poultry and egg growers who supply to a USPOULTRY member or to an independent producer who is a USPOULTRY Member. Typically, one award is presented to a family farm from each several geographic regions in the US. Judged on innovation and their commitment to the environment, award winners are recognized at the IPPE. In addition to each semi-finalist receiving an expense paid to attend the IPPE and award ceremony, the winning entry from each region receives a $1,000 cash prize. Past winning submissions include the development of a more stable, storable and sellable organic fertilizer made up of pelletized chicken litter. The unique drying and pelletizing process creates a consistent end product that delivers nutrients to the fields more efficiently and with less soil compaction. This keeps the fertilizer on the fields and reduces run-off of nutrients into waters of the U.S.
New for 2019, the International Production Processing Expo has a rebranded IPPE logo and show dates will vary slightly! For years, the IPPE has been held at the end of January however, with Atlanta hosting the 2019 Super Bowl, the IPPE will now be held February 12-14, 2019 although still at the Georgia World Congress Center. In 2020, look for the show to move back to January (28-31). E4 Design wishes all of our clients exhibiting at IPPE a successful and educational show!
